Al Masani Royal House is the first haute couture evening wear and bridal collection of Richard Robinson student Maria Al- Masani. She is inspired by her part noble heritage of St Petersburg, Russia, the balls of Anna Karenina mixed with the sparkle of Arab weddings she saw growing up in Yemen. Maria Al-Masani, a proud Canadian, was born in Moscow but grew up in Yemen, half Yemeni half Russian in origin and moved to Canada for university where she met and married her Ukrainian Canadian heritage, while her stepfather is Lebanese. Maria Al-Masani was the first woman of Yemeni heritage to compete in an international major beauty pageant for Miss Universe Canada. This variety of cultures and travel inspired Al Masani to create her brand after she left working for the Canadian parliament and went to study at Richard Robinson Academy of Haute Couture to change a career in politics, economics and military intelligence analysis for haute couture and fashion design.
Maria Al Masani
This collection, “Paris Days, Beirut Nights”, is inspired by the gardens of Paris, Maria Al-Masani’s visit to Versailles and the Louvre, as well as the beautiful sparkle of Lebanese weddings. It is East meets West at it’s sparkling and elegant best. It is Maria Al-Masani’s first couture collection as a clothing designer, while she has an award nominated jewerly brand Al Masani Royal Jewelry, famous for its wedding tiaras for the past two years.
Maria Al-Masani started her first collection as a jewelry designer to years ago with the brand Al Masani Royal Jewelry after taking a course at Richard Robinson. Her jewelry and men’s tie line has been worn by Miss Universe finalists and top Canadian opera singers, and is available at Andre’s Hair Designs and Vernini Uomo as well as individual pieces at other boutiques at times such as Envied. She is inspired by the classical arts of opera, ballet, poetry, and fine arts like painting, much like Christian Dior and Gianni Versace were, but has her own take. Like Elie Saab and Christian Dior, Maria Al Masani lived through war and understands the importance of creating joy and beauty in this life. To her a woman is a poem, and the dress is about making a woman more beautiful, happy and alive since we only live once. She believes women of all ages can be beautiful if they embrace their best features and work to be a happy, healthy, confident and feminine version of themselves, be proud of what they got.
Al Masani Royal House’s jewelry and couture focuses on four factors, like Kate Middleton in Dubai in vintage with high quality detailing. If Christian Dior was alive and working for Dubai royalty, with modern technology at his disposal, what would he make? Al Masani Royal House believes elegance is eternal and sparkle makes life worth living. Maria Al-Masani’s pageant experience made her wonder how can she make any one stand out for the right reasons in a room.
Her first collection is haute couture prom, bridal, gala and cocktail while she is developing high end women’s tailoring to ace that job interview, followed by men’s suits to get that girl and that raise. Her goal has always been to design pieces that are fun, feel great and also make her clients succeed at life. She is also a patron of the arts, especially inspired by opera and waltz, that once inspired her great great grandparents in Russia, as well as a supporter of classical Arabic music, painting and poetry she grew up around in Yemen.
